ISD-Lampre Continental’s plans for this spring: from Sochi to Iran

Training camps are over. It’s time for a real test. The general manager of ISD-Lampre Continental Mykola Myrza tells about the team’s plans for the spring part of the season.
The first race in the team’s April calendar will be Grand Prix of Sochi (category 2.2, April 6-10).
- Have you formed the team for Grand Prix of Sochi?
- In my head, I am 99% certain about it. The team will be announced at the team meeting on April 3. It will include six cyclists, so, unfortunately, somebody will be left out. In fact, we are taking two squads: the Continental team and the team of Donetsk Region. 12 riders in total. We depart April 4th, the race starts in Krasnodar on April 6th and finishes on April 10th.
- The team’s schedule for April looks busy!
- Yes, a few days after the end of Sochi race, the Grand Prix of Donetsk begins (April 17). A day after it’s over, we're leaving for Grand Prix of Adygeya (April 20-24). In two more days the team will go to Moscow (where it will take part in four races: three one-day races and one multi-day race). There are also races in Iran (International Azerbaijan Tour, 13-18 May), Ireland, Estonia in our calendar...
- Tell us about the Irish race - An Post Ras (22-29 May). It is something new in the team’s calendar.
- This is a very interesting Category 2 stage race. We have already participated in races in northern Europe - in Denmark, Norway. But have never traveled to Ireland. In general, the schedule is very busy, but our reserve is unfortunately, minimal. In addition, the race in Estonia will take place the same dates as the Irish one. So the mixed team will go to Estonia.
- It still looks like, by and large, the same cyclists will go all the races.
- All this does not mean that there is no competition in the team. Thus, Grand Prix of Sochi results will be critical to forming the team for the Grand Prix of Donetsk. We are going to determine who will be left out. So there still is a certain competition between the cyclists. And it is good. Competitions should not become an analogue of a training camp.
